Arthur River is arguably the best fishing spot in Tasmania. 30 seconds walk from THE RIVER HOUSE you can catch pacific salmon, estuary perch or sea running brown trout. And then there's the ocean fishing - 200m away you can catch 20lb salmon or flounder off the beach. With simple goggles and a snorkel you can catch your own abalone and lobsters.

Yes it's true. And if you get sick of ocean or inlet fishing, then you can turn the boat around and head up river into some of the most ancient and pristine rainforest in the world (boat hire available). This is home to regular catches of the cod-like Tasmanian "river blackfish", which grows to 8lb. It is also trout country - legendary catches of 13lb are well known. If that's not enough then there dwells a 16lb yabby which grows to 1m long! Not allowed to keep them though.
