Located on the working farm "Barkala", and a stone's throw from the fabulous Pilliga Pottery, The Poet's Cottage is a farmstay with a difference! All the fun of farm activities such as feeding animals, pony rides, helping milk Emma the Jersey cow, and petting our young goats, combined with the wonderful creativity of one of NSW's largest potteries, where everything is handmade, you're welcome to watch the potters and artists at work, and the kids can even have a "play with clay". Plus a beautiful gallery shop and an on-site cafe, serving Devonshire teas and fresh coffee all day, and delicious wood-fired pizza by arrangement.

Enjoy birdwatching - we have heaps of birds in our extensive native gardens, including 8 threatened species at or near the homestead. Book in for a guided bird tour, or a horse trail ride.

Or - you can do nothing! Put your feet up on the verandah or go for a short stroll in one of our ridge-lined paddocks. The perfect place to relax and unwind.

The Poet’s Cottage is self-contained and sleeps six, with one bedroom a cosy carpeted room ideal for kids, and the other a private sleeping loft above the main living area. The roomy bathroom holds a large bath and shower. Featuring a fully equipped kitchen and spacious dining area, the open plan feel of the Poet’s Cottage is warm and inviting. Stimulating natural timber beams and a hand crafted staircase give the living area the feel of a natural extension of the surrounding bush land. Cool in summer and snug in winter, with a romantic log fire, whether you wish to relax or be inspired, either way your stay will leave you with many lasting memories.

There is a lovely private verandah out the front, with a BBQ and surrounded by garden. Out the back is room for parking and a private drive-in access, and also a fireplace, ideal for enjoying on cooler nights (bring your own marshmallows!)
